The University of Birmingham aims to open the University of Birmingham School and Sixth Form in September 2015, with intakes into Year 7 and Year 12 (Sixth Form).
The newly-appointed Principal will be in post shortly after Easter 2014, and he will play a lead role in pupil admissions, establishing the curriculum and appointing staff, working alongside the University, Birmingham City Council, local schools and the Department for Education.
We have received Department for Education support for the project. We are also working in collaboration with the Teaching Agency (TA) to ensure that the School will be part of their elite network of University Training Schools, providing excellent teaching training and education in collaboration with outstanding teacher training programmes at universities. This would build on the University's "outstanding" OfSTED certification for its teacher training programmes, received in 2011 and 2013.
